TITLE
HFT 38.30
AUTHOR
Herbert West
email: ali@extro.ucc.su.OZ.AU
DESCRIPTION
HFT is a very small ANSI terminal program. It was written mainly because
there were no terminal programs i really liked on the Amiga. I wanted a
term which was small, reliable, with just the bare essentials. I also
wanted to learn how to program amiga devices. The main features of HFT
are...
o Console support with cut & paste
o Reliable ANSI terminal emulation
o Compatible with all serial.device clones. HFT was tested on
serial, baudbandit, uw, and nullmodem devices
o Opens on the default public screen
Ok, so why should you use HFT instead of other terminal programs?
You will not want to use HFT if you expect VT100 emulation or transfer
protocols. I get by without VT100 on unix systems by using the amiga
termcap, and running Terminus in the background for transfers. Yes, I
also use auw :) Anyway, these are the reasons you should use HFT...
o Very efficient, robust code
o Very small executable size
o Can be made resident
o Takes full advantage of OS 2.04 and above
o I wrote it ;)
HFT looks for it's config file in PROGDIR:HFT.n.prefs, where n is the
session number. If you make HFT resident, PROGDIR: is not defined, and
you will get a requester asking you to insert volume PROGDIR:. To get
around this problem, you can create an environment variable called
HFTCONFIGPATH which points to the directory where your HFT settings are
stored.
So have I convinced you? Who cares! it's a free program, so use it if
you like it, and throw it away if you dont. If you do like it, check out
other programs in the HFx range, including HFK and many others to come!
BTW, the author assumes no responsability for the reliability of this
software, or any damage it may cause. You assume all risks!
REQUIREMENTS
AmigaOS 2.1. 2.04 with V38 of asl.library will also work fine.
DISTRIBUTION
HFT is Copyright 1992-93 by Herbert West and may be freely distributed

HFT, you should send email to the author saying you like it, and make
some suggestions. Please dont suggest either xpr's or VT100 ;-)
HFT should be available on all aminet sites in /pub/aminet/comm/term
